Blue Plaque Unveiling for Nadine Senior

Registration is closed for this event
Leeds Civic Trust is thrilled to unveil our 200th blue plaque for Nadine Senior.

Nadine Senior MBE (1939-2016) was a Scarborough-born visionary dance teacher and educationist, and the founding principal of Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD).

Nadine lobbied to prove the need for professional dance education in Leeds, both whilst deputy headmistress of Harehills Middle School in Leeds, and later as principal of NSCD, which she founded in 1985 and which to this day remains the only provider of conservatoire-level professional dance training outside London.

Based in Leeds, Northern School of Contemporary Dance is one of the UK’s foremost centres for dance education, and the only institution of its kind in England outside London. Since its formation in 1985 it has enabled aspiring dance artists to enter and shape the industry. Professional training and education are offered at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, nurturing versatile and enterprising dance artists who possess highly-tuned technical, creative and performance skills.

Join us to celebrate the unveiling of our 200th plaque for Nadine Senior.
